Different Types of Carpet Cleaning
Carpet cleaning is not just all about vacuum and steam. Believe it or not, there are actually several ways on how to clean your carpet. These are, of course, depending on the type of carpet you have. It is best to check with the manufacturer of your carpet about which type of carpet cleaning suits the one you’ve got at home.
Host Carpet Cleaning – this type of carpet cleaning is also known as absorbent compound. It uses an attractant to draw the soil and other particles from the carpet’s surface. In this carpet cleaning method, you would need to vacuum the carpet first, then there is a wet absorbent compound (which usually resembles a wet sawdust) that needs to be applied to the carpet. Then there is a special machine which is used to rub up and mix the compound. The dirt from the carpet is soaked up into the compound and vacuumed up.
Dry Carpet Cleaning – this is also known as bonnet cleaning or absorbent pad cleaning. This type of carpet cleaning is called dry cleaning because it only uses minimal amount of water. Basically, a cleaning solution is applied on to the carpet’s surface. This cleaning solution attracts the soil and the dirt particles and breaks them down. A cleaning machine is then moved across the carpet’s surface, which has a highly absorbent pad at the bottom. This pad absorbs the cleaning solution with the dirt particles in it.
Steam Cleaning – this carpet cleaning method is also called hot water extraction. This is the type of carpet cleaning that is being recommended by most carpet manufacturers. In this method, a cleaning solution is applied to the carpet surface to help absorb the dirt particles. The dirt particles and the solution is then rinsed thoroughly from the carpet through a pressurized hot water rinse, while a wet vacuum is also used to remove the steam, the dirt particles and the cleaning solution.
There are several carpet cleaning methods that you can perform while you do the carpet cleaning, but these are the major types. Remember that these types do not work for all types of carpet, so make sure that the cleaning method you are doing is suitable for the type of carpet you have. However, steam cleaning seems to be the most popular of all the carpet cleaning method, as it is recommended by most carpet manufacturers. You might never go wrong with that.
